Where Mountains Meet
the Night Sky

Hidden high in the Pyrenees, MónNatura Pirineus is a nature centre set in the Valls d’Àneu, in the Pallars Sobirà region. Run by the Fundación Catalunya La Pedrera, it brings together nature, sustainability and immersive experiences in one of the most remote mountain landscapes in Catalunya.

Why go

If life on the coast feels busy, this is the counterbalance.

MónNatura Pirineus offers space, quiet, and perspective, a complete contrast to the Mediterranean rhythm. It’s ideal for curious adults, couples, families with older children, and anyone who appreciates nature for its meaning rather than its spectacle.

It’s not about ticking sights off a list but about being present, whether that means following animal tracks, watching the stars, or waking to the mountain’s silence.

What makes it special

Dark skies and astronomy

Thanks to minimal light pollution, this is one of the darkest areas in Catalunya. The on-site astronomical observatory, recognised by the International Minor Planet Center, makes stargazing, planetarium sessions and night-time observations central to the experience.

Wildlife and mountain landscapes

Set deep in the Pyrenees, the centre focuses on local fauna and ecosystems. Activities explore animal tracks, nocturnal species, seasonal wildlife, and the natural rhythms of high-mountain life.

Sustainability by design

The bioclimatic building is integrated into the landscape and powered by renewable energy. Here, sustainability is practical and visible, shaping everything from architecture to education and food.

An all-season destination

Each season brings a different character: hiking and flora in the warmer months, wildlife observation and astronomy year-round, and snow-based activities in winter.
