Museu de la Pesca
Life at the Fishing Harbour

The Museu de la Pesca in Palamós tells the story of fishing on the Costa Brava, from traditional methods and life in the harbour to the challenges facing the sea today. Its exhibitions connect local fishing heritage with sustainability, marine conservation and the future of the Mediterranean.

Why go

The Museu de la Pesca sits beside the working fishing harbour of Palamós and explains how fishing became such an important part of the town. The museum covers traditional fishing, life at sea, local food culture and the changes facing the Mediterranean today.

What makes it special

A museum rooted in place

Housed in a former boat shed beside the harbour, the museum tells the story of Mediterranean fishing through objects, images and real-world context, all connected to the sea just outside its doors.

More than exhibitions

Alongside its permanent and temporary exhibitions, the museum organises guided visits, activities around the fish auction, cooking workshops and other programmes connected to fishing and maritime culture.

Looking to the future of the sea

The museum now also looks at the challenges facing the Mediterranean, including climate change, marine conservation and sustainable fishing. This wider focus is part of its long-term plans for the years ahead.

Aulamar

A new 100% electric catamaran, powered by solar panels, is being prepared for future educational and awareness activities on the sea. It is already moored in Palamós, but is not yet operating as a visitor activity.
